About a Second Opinion

If you have a diagnosis of cancer, whether or not you have started treatment, we can help you feel confident that you are getting the very best treatment options available to you. This will either include new choices, or it may confirm that you are already receiving the best treatment available – either way it can help you make an informed decision about what’s best for you.

At LOC, one of our specialist cancer consultants will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your current and past medical history, and your type and stage of cancer. All of our oncologists work as part of specialist multidisciplinary teams at HCA Healthcare UK.

Benefits of a Second Opinion

There are a few key benefits of having a second opinion, such as:

  • You and your loved ones can have peace of mind that you are on the right treatment
  • You may be offered access to the most advanced treatment options
  • You can take control of your diagnosis and treatment
  • You can choose a doctor you really like.

Call us on 020 3993 8096 to book a second opinion consultation.

Why do I need a second opinion?

Asking for another opinion is very common within both NHS and private healthcare. You should not feel concerned about causing offence. A good consultant will always support your decision and should encourage you to feel completely comfortable before making any decisions on treatment. They can then make clear treatment recommendations.

At LOC, we can offer a second opinion if:

  • You have doubts about your diagnosis
  • You are unhappy with the treatment recommended to you
  • You do not fully understand all the information you have been given
  • You are not comfortable talking to your specialist about your diagnosis or treatment
  • You have been offered several different treatment options and need help to decide on the best course of action
  • You have been diagnosed with a rare or unusual type of cancer
  • You are interested in clinical trials.

The Second Opinion service provides:

  • An assigned dedicated patient liaison officer team who will be your first point of contact and there to guide through every step of the process, at your own pace
  • One-to-one appointment with a carefully selected specialist in your type of cancer
  • A comprehensive medical report which will be provided to you
  • Opportunity to be assessed for enrollment for suitable clinical trials, as part of HCA UK's state-of-the-art drug development unit Sarah Cannon Research Institute UK
