Dr Alison Jones – CMA Disclosure

Dr Jones provides medical advisory services for HCA, including at The Wellington Hospital. In her role at the Wellington Hospital, she advises HCA to ensure that the care provided within the Oncology Service at the hospital is appropriate and efficient and provides professional advice to HCA on clinical governance matters regarding the Oncology provision. Dr Jones contributes to the professional training of HCA medical staff and assists in the Hospital’s acute Oncology rota.

Together with Dr Katharine Pigott, Dr Pigott also provides medical advisory services for HCA’s The Harley Street Clinic. In their role, they lead interactions with hospital medical staff and the hospital leadership team to assist the hospital by providing medical advice and promote high quality, cost effective care.

In both roles, Dr Jones contributes to the strategy, policies and decision making regarding breast care and advises HCA to ensure that care provided within our facilities is appropriate and efficient. She advises on initiatives to drive clinical standards by providing professional advice on clinical governance matters and ensuring the adoption of those by colleagues in breast care.

In addition, she works with medical insurance companies, GPs, other relevant local NHS contacts, and patients to educate and advise on relevant clinical updates to treatments available in the facility.

Dr Jones advises on the accuracy of literature that may be published regarding relevant services. She also advises on how to make the patient referral smooth to reduce stress and anxiety for patients.

All services provided under this agreement are charged to HCA UK. In 2018, the total paid to Dr Pigott and Dr Jones for their services at The Harley Street Clinic was £70,000. In 2019, the total paid to Dr Jones in relation to her medical advisory work for the Harley Street Clinic was £7,057. In respect of her medical advisory work for The Wellington Hospital, the total paid for these services in 2018 was £6,913. In 2019, the total paid for these services was £8,424.

HCA requires the doctors that advise us to attest that if they also practice in the NHS that they are not compromising their NHS commitments.
