Our Technology

We are particularly proud of the way we use technology to improve the quality of our treatment for patients. This is one of those rare examples where technology really has produced great benefits for everyone involved.

One day this may be how all medical treatment is organised and integrated. For now, LOC is one of the few establishments anywhere in the world to operate successfully such sophisticated and proven technology for the benefit of patients.

Dedicated Software

Making the right decisions about your cancer treatment requires the latest and best information about you and your medical condition. Looking through a large set of paper notes can be confusing, and if something is mis-filed it could get lost forever.

This is why LOC uses the most advanced oncology software available. We have spent thousands of hours improving and testing it to be sure that it genuinely meets our patients' needs. We are virtually completely paperless.

Consistent Treatments

Our IT infrastructure enables us to provide absolutely consistent treatment, because it ensures that all of our consultants always use our advanced treatment protocols (for an explanation of what these are, click here).

Checking for Allergies and Interactions

The IT system also enables us to check for drug allergies and interactions. It is virtually impossible for a doctor to remember all the possible interactions for each drug a person may receive, especially when someone is receiving multiple drugs. In order to prevent errors taking place we have therefore installed an electronic system that does this instantly for us. It will also alert us if a drug we are planning to prescribe may cause a reaction with a patient’s known allergy.

Back-up and Security

All our files and information are backed up most securely in four different locations and naturally we have back-up systems and contingency arrangements in place in the event of an emergency.
