Life after Treatment

Once patients have completed their programme of chemotherapy and other treatment with us, you might imagine they would be heartily relieved to wave us goodbye. In reality, many patients comment that they greatly miss the intensive support they have received during treatment from our team. Although there is often a succession of 3, 6 and then 12 monthly follow-up appointments, they are no substitute for the regular support and friendship provided by our nurses and other specialists during treatment.

This is why we have developed a new ‘Living Well’ programme for our patients after they have finished treatment. This was piloted with great success during 2010, and we will be making a whole programme of support more widely available during 2011 and beyond. For more details, click here.

If you do become a patient at LOC, we will take care to explain to you the point you have already reached on your cancer journey, and how it might continue. We will help you to navigate the planning of appointments with all the dedicated specialists you will need to see and consult, and we will be there for you through all the stages of treatment and beyond. Some of our oncologists have patients who have been returning to them for annual check-ups for over 25 years. So although LOC was only founded in 2005, we look forward to greeting many old friends in 2030 and beyond.
