Our People

We recruit our people with the greatest possible care. We often take months interviewing until we are certain we have found the right candidate. LOC is a special place that needs special people. We expect them to be technically proficient in their own field, but beyond that that we look for those who have that special ability to communicate, to listen well, to have the emotional intelligence to understand what patients are really seeking (and needing), and above all, those who can work selflessly in a real team. We care for our staff almost as fanatically as we care for our patients. We look after them, train them, make them feel valued and recognise their contribution to our reputation. They are our most precious resource.

Every single person who works at LOC understands that they play an equally valuable role in helping the patient. The way our receptionists welcome someone arriving at LOC for the first time. The smile with which a coffee or snack is delivered. The skill which makes the blood test easy. The constructive help with an insurer by one of our business office team. Our house staff making sure the building’s services work properly. The lab team ensuring delays for tests are minimised to avoid anxious waiting for patients. Our consultants’ secretaries, organising the schedule to suit the patient. The pharmacists and their team explaining what the drugs do, how to use them and how to minimise any side-effects. And of course our nurses, right in the fore-front of the front line.
